As a tiny-batch home-roaster, we're limited to two or three concurrent offerings. One of these is almost always a decaf (because we consume a lot of that at home). The others are constantly changing in response to customer feedback, our personal tastes, and availability. The last one's tricky! We are always limited by which green coffees we can buy in quantities appropriate to our production -- the standard wholesale purchase is a 77-lb or 144-lb sack! We just don't roast enough to get through that amount while it's still fresh.
The roast level numbers are on the Agtron gourmet scale. The scale ranges from a "very light" of 120, down to "very dark" of 23. A typical medium-dark is about 60.
This is a hobby! Spreading the love of our coffee is a whole new thing for us. It's a pile of fun, and we'd love to keep it going and maybe even grow it into a business.
Do you have any ideas for how we can continue to distribute after the DMS farm box program ends? Any other feedback is always welcome, of course!
Please email Autumn & Sarah with the link at the bottom of the page.
Autumn has been roasting for personal use for 15 years, mostly on an ancient Hottop electric drum roaster.
After joining the DMS farm market, we upgraded to a 1kg Aillio Bullet roaster. Most of our roasting is done at home, although for larger batches we work with our wholesaler to use equipment capable of doing a 5kg batch in a single roast.
